Enchanted Valley Hike

One of my most incredible travel experiences. Enchanted Valley Hike was challenging and better when I look back on it... it was fun preparing and awesome to experience with KT. The NYC girls take on the NW! Thanks Richard! Thanks Shaun for all the help with the prep work and training hikes!

TAP NY

I attended the 10th Anniversary of TAP NY Saturday, April 28th in Hunter Mountain. It was exciting to see the Ric Orlando, of New World Home Cooking, demo three types of mussels and beer. Unfortunately, I did not fill my TAP Official Brewing Passport with 32 stamps. Most enjoyable brews... Brooklyn in da house. ;-) Brooklyn Chocolate Stout was on draft and Sixpoint Carob Porter is a new favorite of mine. Apparently this beer is an "alias" of Sixpoint Black Market Porter. An "alias" according to Beeradvocate is.

Time Out Walk Urban Hike, the other Fifth Avenue walk

I'll never forget this day.

I am in training for my Olympic Peninsula experience so needed to get in my mileage, but in NYC what to do?! It's called Urban Hiking! After a brunch at Relish, Shaun and I decided we would follow TONY's Fifth Avenue urban hike but we would start in Williamsburg. This means we walked from Williamsburg, Brooklyn to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, just in time to see the sun set too.

The walk included a stroll of Brooklyn's Fifth Avenue, from beginning to end. The various ethnic neighborhoods along Fifth Avenue was incredible, it's like each stretch was it's own little city. Some of the stops along the way included, Apropos Cafe, Old Stone House, Green-Wood Cemetery, Sunset Park, Sweet Delights (Lebanese delights), Shore Parkway Promenade at the Verrazano Bridge.

We even saw other Urban Hikers, and we beat them to the finish.
See photos here.

I love being a Veg

I admit I am a "flexitarian" but I prefer veganism... which lead me to Maoz Vegetarian. Maoz Vegetarian, first opened in Amsertdam in 1991, opened in Union Square (NY) this spring and I finally hit it the other night. Cheap, delicious, nutritious falafel topped with freshly made salads (I love the cauliflower!) and sauces. Check out the menu here. What makes this place unique is this self serve "salad bar:" big chunks of sautéed carrots, fried looking chopped cauliflower, olives, and tabouli salad and more, all loaded with tasty spice combinations.

5.5.07 24 Hours of Flickr

The folks at Flickr initiated a world wide event called 24 hours of Flickr with the aim of giving a window to the world within a day. The group soon ended up with 20,000 odd submission during that period and the best of the best were made into a book. This was my 24 hours.
