Hazed and Infused

It's back to a routine this week and early bedtimes. I spent the past two mornings sweating at Physique 57 so I can continue to drink a few beers every now and again. :-) Tanya Becker, a former instructor at The Lotte Berk (world-famous ballerina) Method for almost ten years, has updated and fine-tuned the long-respected and effective technique of intense strengthening and stretching exercises. I believe my instructor yesterday was a Russian ballerina in a past life, although he was sweet but tough enough that I wouldn't quit, except at times when my legs began shaking uncontrollably!

I greatly enjoyed a Hazed & Infused beer from Boulder Beer last night in Hell's Kitchen, see the reviews on Beer Advocate.

Day of Quotes

"The distance isn't important; it is only the first step that is difficult."- Marquise du Deffand

Attitude

Thanks to Daryl, by Charles Swindoll, "The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude..."

November 6

I admit defeat during a Pabst (the hipster beer) November 6 Birthdays chugging contest at Tortilla Flats, I was a quick second!

31nederful

Faultline Brewing

Who knew there was a Brewing Company in Sunnyvale, California so when I found it during a Yahoo! web search, of course I had to check it out. As usual my vote goes for the IPA and Octoberfest.

Brewtopia IV

Brewtopia, The World Beer Festival, was held on October 21 and 22. I volunteered one night and attended the day session on Saturday. My favorite beer was Lagunitas IPA from California. I had the usual Sam Adams and Brooklyn Brewery beers. I enjoyed the Sam Adams Black Lager and Brooklyn Monster Ale. The Beer Brothers were determined to prove NYC as a beer town so they started this event four years ago. Check out Hop Devil Grill, David Copperfield's and The Belgian Room, all "Beer Brothers" locations.

Airstream?

While this weekend getaway was not all about beer, I had to drink the local brew. First, I highly recommend lodging at Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel , the Airstream is a must. For breakfast, the oatmeal, and egg sandwiches at The Red Rooster Cafe in Gardiner, NY. After skydiving (I didn't try it yet), imbibe at The Gilded Otter Brewing Company.

However, my favorite beer was at New World Cooking Co. in Saugerties. This is where I tried Keegan Ales from Kingston, NY.
I suggest the Hurricane IPA and Mother's Milk Stout. They are opening
a brew pub in a few weeks, click here for more info.

Team Nick

The only man that could pull off a Miller High Life T-Shirt. Took my Mom to see Nick Lachey on October 12th. I'd overlook his taste for Miller. :-)

Beer Geek

Today I finally became a member of The Malted Barley Appreciation Society! I have a lot to learn! I was introduced to a whole new underground scene, right around the corner. Had no idea that there were this many beer lovers in Brooklyn. More to come...
